Healing continues… In my last post, I forgot to mention one more medication (there are so darn many!): Enoxaparin, a blood thinner that I’m to inject subcutaneously for 7 days to prevent clotting. No one wants a DVT or PE, but dang if these things don’t give me bruises. Mind you, I’m also probably not so great at doing them.

As I’m still not doing much, I’ve enjoyed receiving well wishing texts from family, friends, and especially Kilter fam. I’m also watching Nine Perfect Strangers on Hulu. I read the book by Liane Moriarty several years ago, and I enjoyed the limited series just as much. With a cast that included Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, and Bobby Cannavale, what’s not to enjoy? As I watched, I continued to ice – 15 minutes on/15 minutes off. I was so diligent about it that I started to get really cold, so I finally had to take a break for a few hours to warm up my body temp.
I decided that I would feel up to attending (early) Passover Seder at my cousin Michelle’s on Sunday. Being that I was still relegated to body wipe baths, what to do about my hair? Ah! I made an appointment at the salon for a wash on Sunday morning. Did you know that was something one could do? I kind of did, but had forgotten until I remembered. Funny how that works.
I’ll leave you with a fun factoid segment about the drains. Have you wondered what the fluid is that’s draining? It’s serosanguineous fluid: serous fluid and blood mixed together. Basically, it’s a liquid scab. Cool, right? Once a drain is emptied, I squeeze it as flat as possible before capping it again. This allows the drain to use gentle (so gentle I don’t even notice it) suction to draw the fluid out. We want that so there is not a buildup of stuff that could become infected. So, yeah. That’s fun.
