Moranfest 2024 Part 3.2 – More Shenanigans In and Around Westcove

Moranfest 2024 Part 3.2 – More Shenanigans In and Around Westcove

Our week continued on Thursday, when the whole clan made our way to the wet and windy Kissane Sheep Farm.

Driving in the fog and rain (on the wrong side of the road!) was quite treacherous.

After the herding, we ventured indoors for a shearing demonstration. Sorry, no pics of that, but here’s a little video I grabbed on our way in. It should give you a good idea of the weather.

After the sheepies, family members split off for the afternoon. Hubs and I took a little time by ourselves to visit Killarney and get a late lunch. On the way to the town, we noted several spots where tourists were stopping for photos, and we made sure to find those spots on the way back.

Friday was our last day in Westcove. Hubs, TG, and I made our way to Sneem for lunch at The Bridge Cafe & Bistro, plus some of the famous Sneem Cream We’d been hearing about.

That night, we had a beautiful seafood dinner prepared by the women who take care of the house, followed by Moran-style shenanigans. Firstly, we all shared a limerick (or few).

Click to hear Hubs’ limerick contribution.

Prior to the trip, we’d been watching Bridgerton. That was my influence for the first two limericks that I penned (pun intended – IYKYK).

There once was a Bridgerton lass
Whose 1st season had come to pass.
In front of the ton
Her heart was quite won
By the Duke with a beautiful ass.

There once was a Featherington daughter,
NOT a diamond of the first water,
But she captured the ton
With the gossip she spun,
For she was our mysterious author.

Many of the group were inspired by the town of Sneem. I mean, it’s just fun to rhyme.

‘Twas a wee Irish town we called Sneem.
In fog it looked just like a dream
With cute little shops.
Some sold local crops,
And some that served lovely ice cream.

And then, there’s the one I wrote about Ce’s neighbor’s dog.

There once was a doggie named Buddy
Whose paws often got very muddy.
He licked the floor clean.
Not a crumb could be seen.
He is cute, if just a bit nutty.

After all limericks had been read aloud, the not-so-wee-ones decided it was a brilliant idea to jump into the cove. The water was NOT warm.

After the cold plunge, TG and cousins decided to avail themselves of the sauna at The Stables.

Coming soon(ish)… Our last day on the Emerald Isle.
