Hey! It’s a post that isn’t a recipe! Wow! Finally!
If you’ve read the About section of this blog, you know I’m a scrapbooker. As such, I follow several scrapbooking blogs. In early December, the Creating Keepsakes blog had a random drawing for a free pass to Katrina Kennedy’s online class, Capture Your Holidays Through the Lens, at Get it Scrapped. By an incredible stroke of luck, I WON! I was so excited and couldn’t wait to begin. The class was designed for both point and shoot and DSLR cameras, so I figured I’d be good to go with my DSC-H9. For the most part, I was – although I’m entirely in want of a DSLR now. But, I think that investment will have to wait a bit. Meanwhile, Katrina is such a fantastic teacher that in just two weeks (7 lessons), I’m completely off auto settings and using the manual settings on my camera now. I thought it’d be much harder to learn that it was. I know there’s still much to learn, but I think I’m off to a good start.
The first lesson of the class was titled Lights. This focused on holiday lights indoors. Here are some of my favorite shots:

The other lessons were titled Trees, Ornaments, Presents, Food, Outside (lights and snow), and Christmas Morning. You can find the best of the bunch on my brand-spanking-new Flickr Photostream – Capture Your Holidays set of photos.
